GreenWing FUN DAY Event June 21, 2008

On June 21, 2008 the Morgan County Waterfowlers held an event for children ages 17 and under at the Morgan County Gun Club, McConnelsville, Ohio. This was the first event specifically held by the DU chapter for children. The children had the opportunity to learn about gun safety, to shoot .22 cal rifles on the rifle range,  and to shoot 20 ga. shotguns on the trap range. They also shot archery targets with the help of the students and staff from the Morgan Local School's "National Archery in the Schools" program. Other activities were seeing a dog retriever demonstration, learning about waterfowl identification, and gaining information about outdoor conservation.
Each participant received a Morgan County Waterfowlers t-shirt, a Greenwing membership in Ducks Unlimited (which includes a magazine subscription and various other things from Ducks Unlimited), a waterfowl identification poster, and a book about waterfowling. Food, drinks, and a chance to win various gifts through a raffle drawing, were provided as the participants enjoyed a beautiful sunny day outdoors.
Greenwings are younger Ducks Unlimited members.  By joining DU, they can participate in the conservation, restoration and management of wetlands and associated habitats for North America's waterfowl. These habitats also benefit other wildlife and people. There are more than 60,000 young people afiliated with Ducks Unlimited through the Greenwing Program who love the outdoors and care about protecting wetlands across North America.

The Morgan County Waterfowlers Ducks Unlimited Chapter has been in existence since 2005 and has raised over $90,000 for waterfowl conservation. The chapter is a group of waterfowl hunters and people concerned about conservation of wetlands from Muskingum and Morgan Counties. They volunteer their time and energy to Ducks Unlimited.

We are a bona fide 501-C3, non-profit corporation and we depend largely upon donors like you to maintain our important habitat improvement programs.

We are always looking for additional volunteers on our committee. If you are interested or want more information you can email:

The vision of Ducks Unlimited is to have sufficient wetlands to fill the skies with waterfowl today, tomorrow, and forever.
